Teacher Workshop - “Fun To Move Everywhere” – School Promotional Activity and Competition Brief (Teleconferencing)
The aim of this online workshop was to introduce "Fun to Move Everywhere" - a big floor mat designed to enable students to master basic movement skills and health-related fitness in a fun and engaging way. This workshop provided teachers with strategies to integrate skill teaching and practice into PE lessons, and how they can support students to participate in the Project's "Fun to Move Everywhere Interschool Competition", which will be held in May 2022. Over 80 PE teachers participated in this online workshop. The project team introduced related digital learning materials and demonstration videos, as well as a guided teaching schedule and game rules for intra- and inter-school activities and competitions. Approaching the end of the workshop, the team also gave a teachers a demonstration of the skills in moderate-to-high difficulty and intensity levels, to ensure learning progression across different levels of ability. To prepare for the 2021/2022 new school year, we organised an online interschool event titled “2021-2022 School Meeting cum Activity Session” with principals and teaching staff of Project schools on 27 August 2021. The event aimed to express our sincere appreciation for the continuous support from the Project schools, and to share the fruitful outcomes of last school year. We are delighted to have over 200 participants, including school group representatives, principals, PE teachers and teaching staff, joining the Project team to get ready for school. The school meeting hosted by Prof. Ha was to bring updates to schools about the Project progress and positive outlook, as well as to strengthen schools’ readiness to adopt new initiatives in the coming school year.
Subsequently, a relaxing, fun and interactive activity session was led by the Project team. All participants, no matter they exercise regularly or not, were actively engaged in the Project newly designed big board game named “Fun to Move Everywhere”. The board game is designed for all levels which integrates the components of fundamental movement skills and health-related fitness to promote confidence and competence through physical activity. The Project has given a big board game (diameter: 2.5m) to every project school. We hope that the initiative will help make the exercising experience even more inclusive and accessible for all participants.

The final teacher workshop for the academic year was conducted on 21 June 2021. The objectives were to 1) demonstrate how to use technology and research to collect objective data for analysis, and 2) use student data to inform and evaluate the effectiveness of teaching and learning in PE classrooms.
During the workshop, Professor HA provided an update on the development of Fundamental Movement Skill Rater and its application in school settings. The student data collected by the Rater was shared to strengthen teachers’ application of the system in their classrooms for the assessment and improvement of students’ performance in fundamental movement skills. She then reported the positive results of using the Fitness Dices to promote fun fitness in teachers’ own practices. Two teachers were also invited to share their hands-on experience and suggestions for effective classroom practice. The workshop ended by summarizing the highlights of the Project’s recent successful events and upcoming activities. Over 100 PE teachers participated in this online workshop, and 59 of them submitted responses in the post-event survey. They all found the workshop very fruitful and practical.

Three Fun to Move@JC Interschool Family Fun Days were successfully held on 24 April , 8 May and 22 May 2021, respectively. These three iterations of the event were conducted over the internet. Parents and children from over 360 families participated in the events. School group representatives and school principals welcomed participants and encouraged them to maintain a healthy lifestyle by engaging in regular physical activity. Our professional coaches led families to perform fitness games, dances, fundamental movement skills and cool-down stretches together. Everyone enjoyed the exercise time! We would like to express our sincere thanks to the participating schools and their support to the successful completion of the four online interschool events held in the 2020/21 school year.
