Professional Teacher Development Fun Day
To further promote teachers’ physical health and well-being, the “Professional Teacher Development Fun Day” has become a recurring event held in-person at Project schools. Since the school year began in September 2022, the Project team had conducted the fun days at four schools, including S.K.H. Wei Lun Primary School, Meng Tak Catholic School, St. Patrick's School and PLK Luk Hing Too Primary School. We recorded total attendances of over 160 teachers at these events.
Each “Professional Teacher Development Fun Day” was divided into four parts: a talk on Physical Literacy, evaluations of Health & Fitness, “Fun to Move Everywhere Challenge”, and team games, to offer opportunities for teachers to engage intellectually, socially, and physically. Specifically, during the event the essentials of physical literacy were introduced, and different objective assessment tools and methods, including Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis (BIA) and the Project’s automated FMS Rater were used to allow teachers for a complete understanding of their health levels and physical abilities. Besides, the teachers were actively engaged in the team-building activities such as the “Fun to Move Everywhere Challenge” and frisbee games. Participating teachers found the event to be well-designed and packed with relevant and meaningful content. They also felt they were able to spend a relaxing but invigorating afternoon with their colleagues after work.
